You see an auction, it's got a stupidly high Buy It Now price on it. However, the seller forgot to put a reserve on it. So, I put in a low bid, to effectively remove the BIN price.
I doubt I'll "win" the auction at the $9.99 price, but hopefully, some uninformed individual won't pay the unrealistic BIN price.
I don't do this all the time, but occasionally, I can't help it.

It does as long as there isn't a reserve on the item.
Once, no kidding, I won the item, at the low opening bid price. I did give that figure away though.

I do it as well, most times for items that I would want if I won it.
Find I do it for a lot of trading card auctions
